Music and Choir

Our music curriculum encourages students of all ages to learn about their fatih, the world around them, and their own unique God-given musical talents. All students PreK 3 - 8th grade  have Music class once a week. Elementary students explore music by developing their singing voices and playing a wide range of instruments including recorders and percussion. They learn music concepts through movement and music reading activities. In addition to our general music classes, students can participate in the Friday Mass Choir or the Epiphany Cathedral Children's Choir (meets after school once a week).

Middle school students choose from music electives which include, concert band or orchestra. Recorder is also included in the curriculum for the 6th grade.  Epiphany Cathedral School has a great relationship with our parish music department. So many of our students sing in the church choir, along with playing hand bells during our family mass on Sunday. A few of our students are becoming cantors and are already leading the congregation in song and praise.

Art

Epiphany's art curriculum provides creative learning experiences for our students as they develop their personal artistry and imagination in the visual arts. Our students are encouraged to use originality as they create art in response to various themes, problems, and questions posed in the curriculum. Artful communication is encouraged as our students learn how to use different mediums to express themselves and their individual point of view. The recognition of the importance of art and the contribution it has made in society is a recurring theme in our curriculum throughout the grade levels. Our students learn first hand to value the beauty of God’s creation as they learn to express their values and beliefs through visual forms, patterns, and relationships.

Physical Education

Our Physical Education (PE) program is designed to engage students of all ages by blending physical fitness with creative, team-based activities that encourage skill development, teamwork, and most importantly, fun. The idea is to move beyond traditional drills and make physical activity an exciting, enjoyable experience that students look forward to, while still promoting fitness, motor skills, and social interactions.

The foundation of the program is the use of games that incorporate physical movement, strategy, and collaboration. These games are designed to develop motor skills, coordination, balance, and agility, while also enhancing cognitive skills like problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork. Games are designed to be accessible for all skill levels and can be scaled in difficulty as students improve.  The program is designed to be inclusive for students of all abilities.

Technology

Epiphany's Technology Education curriculum provides dynamic learning experiences for our students as they develop essential skills in technology and digital literacy. Students are encouraged to think critically and creatively as they explore ways to solve real-world problems through innovative tools and techniques. Collaboration and ingenuity are fostered as students engage in hands-on projects, coding challenges, robotics, digital design tasks, and developing essential skills such as typing and computer applications. These foundational skills prepare students to effectively navigate and communicate in a technology-driven world.

Throughout the curriculum, students learn to appreciate the role of technology in shaping our world while considering its ethical and responsible use. By integrating technology with faith and values, students gain a deeper understanding of how innovation can serve others and reflect God’s gifts of creativity and intellect. Epiphany’s Technology Education program equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in an ever-evolving digital landscape while fostering a sense of purpose and integrity

Spanish

The Spanish curriculum is designed to introduce students to the basics of the Spanish language through engaging activities and interactive lessons. It focuses on building vocabulary, simple sentence structure, and pronunciation, with an emphasis on listening and speaking skills. Students learn about Hispanic culture, customs, and traditions while developing a foundation in grammar and conversational Spanish. The curriculum uses songs, games, and storytelling to make language learning fun and accessible, fostering an appreciation for bilingualism and cultural diversity.

Library

The Epiphany School library is a center hub of our wonderful school.  Our library curriculum plays a critical role in helping to create a school culture that supports and encourages reading for pleasure. It is a welcome space for our PreK 3 through 5th grade students.  Our media specialist facilitates activities that offer meaningful practice in using a variety of information resources as well.  For our younger students, we focus on parts of a book, authors and illustrators, genres and finding personal connections to stories. Our older students are introduced to different literature genres, and explore the nonfiction text features, along with research strategies. Adventurous read alouds, play performances, author of the month and book fairs, are just a few of the ways we encourage the love of reading for our amazing students here at Epiphany Cathedral Catholic School.
