Coach John Jencks is the director of athletics and the physical education teacher at ECS!  He is a graduate from Cal State University at Long Beach, holding a B. A. Degree in Phys. Ed.  He also holds a Fitness Specialist Certificate from the YMCA.  Epiphany Cathedral School's physical education program is based on the Diocese of Venice Curriculum Guidelines and the Sunshine State Standards for Florida.
The physical education class take place on the spacious field behind the school (weather permitting) or in the school gym.  The program includes Brain Gym (a combination of athletic and academic drills), participation in Presidential Fitness, Jump Rope for Heart and a variety of other activities. 
In addition to PE class, students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to participate in the competitve sports offered by the school.
                                                                              
Phys. Ed. Rules:
1. Stop, look, and listen, on whistle or "high five" sign.
2. Show good sportsmanship and respect your classmates.
3. Respect and take care of equipment.
4. Have fun and play safe.

Phys. Ed. Procedures:
1. Dress out each day: Blue P.E. shorts, P.E. shirt or "Tiger Trot shirt", white socks, and P.E. shoes.
     (as per student handbook)
2. Keep clothes in you gym bag.
3. Bring a note if not dressing out.(for any reason)
4. Stay in designated area.
5. During a fire drill:  stop, line up, and quietly move to north gym door.
